High Demand Servers
Many small businesses have Web, ftp or mail servers
which must cope with very large amounts of traffic. The problem they face is that
the capacity of their connection to the Internet is not sufficient to cope with this
traffic without significant performance loss. There are two ways of addressing this
problem:
Upgrading the Internet connection
Depending on the intensity of the usage
demand, upgrading might be a viable solution. It may not be cost effective
however, if:
- the only reason for the upgrade is the needs of one or two servers.
- the high-demand is only temporary.
A LogicSouth co-location account
When:
- the demands of your server(s) exceed the performance capacities of T1 or DSL connections, or
- your location prohibits you from getting T1 or DSL, or
- you do not have a long-term need for an upgraded Internet connection outside the needs of your server(s),
then a LogicSouth co-location account is
your best solution.

What is Co-Location?
Co-location is a service that allows your
business to lease space inside LogicSouth's state-of-the-art facility
in which to locate your server(s). Your co-located server is connected
via Ethernet, through LogicSouth's core router, directly to the Internet
backbone. This location allows your server to perform at speeds up to
28 times faster than T1 connections, at a third of the cost.
The LogicSouth Edge
It's not easy to find a co-location facility
that offers a comparable performance/reliability mix to LogicSouth's facility.
We operate one of the newest, most desirable co-location sites in the
Carolinas. Not only does our fiber-based backbone connection
provide your server with unrivaled throughput performance, but redundant
core routers, redundant Ethernet paths, and our on-site uninterruptible
power plant ensure your server's accessibility 24 hours a day, 365 days
a year.
How can we access our co-located server?
Locating a server in a different geographic
location raises the question of access. From time to time, you may need
to change server settings, reset the power or make programming alterations.
With our Web-based, Remote Console and Powergate service, you can access
your server remotely for most tasks, 24 hours a day. We will also issue
you a security card that allows you to physically access your server at
any time.
Co-Location Pricing
Our pricing is designed to be fair both
to those with modest and substantial requirements. We charge for the different
components of a co-location solution based on your needs. Secure cabinets
are available either in 21" high modules, suitable for a pair of
servers, or in full 7-ft. height. Fully conditioned non-volatile power
is available in 5-Amp, 10-Amp and 15-Amp circuits. Several grades of bandwidth
are available, and so on, so you get what you pay for and pay only for
what you need.
We also offer some extra capabilities that
may be put to skillful use by the more sophisticated customer with specialized
connectivity needs, such as our Internet Exchange Services and our Telco
Support and our Remote Management facilities.
How to use the pricing information below:
1. Select from Space, Power and Bandwidth choices highlighted in yellow.
2. Add optional features such as a remote power controller.
